TFC Posidoen P-03 Bigbite Review

Another new combiner from TFC. Piranacon is the new combiner from TFC and they name it Poseidon (God of the Sea). The name is a fitting representation of their original character which is based on sea-con characters. I do not know much about Piranacon so my knowledge of this combiners is limited.
But, as always, TFC is doing something different and producing not so well-known combiners to the market. For me, i just have to get this combiners, because currently this is the only 3rd party Piranacon that we have in the market. But here, we will look at the quality of the product itself and for now we will look at the very first member of Poseidon which is P-03 Bigbite, which is based on Skalor character.

TFC Poseidon will be a scramble-city combiner, which means that we can swap the placement of each individual limbs (from legs to arms, left to right, etc), but the torso will still be the same.
P-03 Bigbite is a 5 in 1 transformation: Robot Mode, Alt Mode, Leg limb mode, Arm limb mode, and weapon mode.

Alt Mode
According to tfwiki.net, the Bigbite's alt mode is based on 'coelacanth' fish and this is the default form when you take out Bigbite from the box. The build quality of the figure is very good and solid. And i think the plastic material is better compared to the previous TFC releases.
The color applications is executed well, even though personally i feel that i can take a few more touch of other paints for detailing (i'm sure Reprolabel will come up with a sticker set to enhance the look of this set).

Weapon Mode
According to the instruction, the next transformation is the weapon mode. I think, the weapon itself will be used in the combined form. But, the question remains, whether the combined mode is able to lift up the weapon mode, since the weight of the weapon mode is quite heavy and TFC used to have a reputation of weak joints and so on. So, only time will tell.
But for now the weapon mode also looks good on its own

Leg Mode
Moving on to Leg Mode. Nothing special here as the transformation from weapon to leg mode is very straight forward and simple.

BUT, the most important thing to look out for in the leg mode is the combiner joints. TFC is well known for their loose joints on their previous combiner, so this is definitely the key part to look out for.
Thankfully, TFC is employing and using a new combiners joints and ports for this combiners (its about time). The knee combiner joints has a strong ratchet and it seems that it will be attached to the torso limb using a slot connection. With that new connection type, i think it will improve the stability of the combined mode for sure.

However, my worry is more to the ankle part, where the leg will connect to the feet piece. So far, the below (pictured) peg is the one available. Will this peg be the only peg to connect to the feet? if yes than i think we have a problem, since it wont hold the weight of the whole combiner. Sadly, the combined-mode feet part also not available with Bigbite, so we can not test the connection.

Arm Mode
Transforming from leg mode to arm mode also very simple and straight forward. I love the elbow joint here, and unlike their previous combiners where they used individual robot's leg as an elbow joint.
This new elbow joint is definitely a more stronger option and better proportion and aesthetic overall.

And i also like on the connector that TFC used to attach the hand part to the arms since there is a locking mechanism as well. Once attached, the hand is secured perfectly well with the arms.

Now, i only hope that for the feet part, TFC will be using the same mechanism like the hand part, because the connector is good.

Robot Mode
Finally we got to the robot mode. The overall aesthetic and design of Bigbite is very good. I'm very happy with the end result.
There are few strong ratchet, notably in the leg and knee parts, to help improve the stability and articulation of the robot.
The only feedback from me on the robot mode is that there are no storage space for the weapon (unlike the alt mode, where you can mount the gun on the fish back).

Final Thoughts
FUN is the word here. One of the important factor for any toy review is a fun-factor, and Bigbite has plenty of that fun-factor. I enjoyed the transformation process of this robot from alt mode to weapon mode, to leg mode, to arm mode, and to robot mode.
Overall transformation is simple and straight forward, and the look of each mode is executed very well.
There are no clearance issue or stress mark that i encounter during my play-through.
The design and the material feels good and the new combiner joints and ports is also a big plus.
I'm committed to this combiners, and i can not wait for the other 5 members to join the rank.
I think this is a good direction that TFC is embarking upon and i hope that the combined mode will be as solid as the other big name 3rd party combiners out there (i.e: Feral Rex MMC). When its all said and done, i think TFC Poseidon set will outperform and will be better than TFC Hades (not-Liokaiser), thanks to the lots of improvement that TFC used in this series.

Cheers,
