Toyworld Constructor - Back In The Game

I love Devastator. To me, Devastator is so iconic and the symbol of power in Transformers universe. There are many companies working on or had worked on Devastator, and so far the Maketoys Giant is still stands out as one of the very best Devastator offering out there. Last year, Toyworld and Generation Toy (new company) announced that they are in the plan for Devastator. This time we will be looking at Toyworld Devastator. Previously, Toyworld had just released and completed their take on Dinobot Combiners and the final result was so horrible with lots of problem. Additionally i could not give any positive feedback for Toyworld Dinobot Combiners, and the best feedback would be to save the money and buy something else (unless you want to collect it just for the individual Dinobot and not to be combined). Will the Toyworld Constructor have the same fate as the Dinobot combiner? Let's have a look.

Packaging
All the Constructor limbs members is packed securely inside a regular cardbox heavy box like before. But this time, the box is a lot smaller in size compared to the one on the Dinobot. The styrofoam inside the box should be able to keep the robot and other content secure most of the time.
As a nice bonus, if you rotate the box to the side, all 6 box can be arranged to display the Constructor.

Individual Bots
The Toyworld Construction team is very big in size, and it is the tallest among other company's construction team. The individual bots aesthetic and design follow those of the classic G1 design that we used to know but with more updated transformation and gimmicks. Individual robots looks are stunning and should be able to pose and to transform without problem. Toyworld also threw in some neat surprises and gimmicks for the alt mode. For example, the tread of Bonecrusher and Scavenger is a working tread. Meaning that it will move and react just like a real tread. The cement drum on the Mixmaster can rotate also. The drum is sadly in the green color, but recently Toyworld just annouced that they will release the purple color drum for those who want to change the drum to purple. Additionally, the rocket on the Mixmaster can shoot as well with spring mechanism inside the robot.

Combined Mode
As far as i'm concerned, i was committed to this series for the Devastator mode. This is not a perfect transform / perfect combiner per se, as you do have few partsforming piece. I personally do not mind partsforming if it can help to improve the overall look and overall stability of the combined mode.
Toyworld opted to make a separate waist to upper leg, forearms and hands, and combiner head separate as parts forming.
Overall i think that the partsforming parts scale very well to the combined form and it serves the purpose well for the combined mode as Constructor is very big, heavy, sturdy and solid. This is the tallest and biggest Devastator that is currently available in the market.
The aesthetic and paint application is very good, even though the waist part is a bit skinny and the arms proportions is bit long, but it doesnt ruin the overall look and feel of this big robot. When combined and displayed, i have no doubt that this Constructor will have a very good presence on any collector shelves.

Articulation
Being a combiner, you have to expect that the poseability and articulation is somewhat limited compared to those of the single robot/individual robot. But Constructor can still be pose without any major issue thanks for a very strong ratchet and joint. The connector joint and the ratcheting joint is very strong here as you might need to use an extra force when posing this big fella. Thanks for my friend in third-party community who pointed out that in order to move the shoulder, you have to pull the arm outward a bit before able to rotate. It's not recommended for you to rotate the shoulder without pulling out the arm first as it will wear off the ratcheting gear and ultimately break your joint/connector.
Finger also individually articulated and its one of the best finger articulation (in my humble opinion).
Toyworld Constructor is able to pose an "Iron Man" pose also, which is uncommon for a combiner. The stability and the sturdiness of this combiner is awesome and there was no piece falling off during my photo shoot session.

My Thoughts
Get this Constructor. After their horrible and lousy Dinobot Combiner, Toyworld had gone back to the drawing board and redeemed themselves with this Constructor. Your money and investment will be worth it.
There was a QC issue, when Toyworld release the first 2 robots (TW-C01 Bulldozer & TW-C02 Unearth), and people confidence to Toyworld started to drop again. But, Toyworld has been able to put up a replacement parts to address the QC issues (its included in the TW-C04 Allocator box) and the 2nd run of the production does not have the QC issues (i know this because my version is the 2nd run production).
I'm glad i had faith with Toyworld and pre-ordered this Constructor and i'm satisfied with the end result. Some people are still contemplating whether to get Toyworld, Generation Toys, or Maketoys and i understand that. But at least for Maketoys and Toyworld, either purchase should be a good choice, while we wait for the completion of Generation Toys.
I'm happy for Toyworld as it seems that they are going to a right direction. Starting with this Devastator, they also plan to release a bunch of G1 classic design robot (i.e: Optimus, Springer, Coneheads, etc) and they are working on 2 more combiners which is (hold your breath) Superion and Bruticus.
Now that's reason enough for me to start saving more money :).

Cheers,
epen
