MMC Feral Rex - King of Combiners

Let's do a simple (short and sweet) review for this magnificent MMC Feral Rex (their take on Not-Predaking). This review probably is too late already since the Feral Rex already completed way back and you probably had read or view other reviewers video or article regarding this awesome product. So that's why i will do this in a very simple manner. But let me jump ahead and say this: Feral Rex is one of the best 3rd party combiners currently, and without a doubt the greatest Predaking representation.

Individual Robots (Limbs)
Feral Rex consists of 5 limbs (6 if you included the Felisaber option). Preadaking belongs to Predacons team, a Decepticons sub-group that transform into a savage animals. This also applies to Feral Rex, where their group consists of:
  • Leo Dux (Not-Razorclaw) - transform to a lion
  • Tigris (Not-Rampage) - transform to a tiger
  • Talon (Not-Divebomb) - transform to an eagle
  • Fortis (Not-Headstrong) - transform to a rhinoceros
  • Bovis (Not-Tantrum) - transform to a buffalo
Additionally, we have a 6th member which is Felisaber (Not-Catilla) that transformed into a saber-tooth tiger.
All 6 members looks good and it does have their own personality. All 6 members also a display piece on their own.
In terms of molding, Tigris, Talon, and Felisaber shares the same molding, Bovis and Fortis also share the same molding, while Leo Dux is the only different mold.

Combined Mode
Feral Rex combined mode is a sight to behold on its own. The design, engineering, and the proportion all matches perfectly with the Preadaking with modern look (re-formatted) and fresh aesthetic. It is a magnificent display piece on its own with its sheer presence and stability of the figure. I have no doubt that Feral Rex will surely be an eye stopper and a crowd puller. For MMC to be able to come with this amazing final result it is breathtaking.

Articulation
Unfortunately, the combined mode suffers with much limited articulation, and movement of legs and arms is also limited. But it will have no problem standing-up and have no risk of falling forward or backward even if you attached Felisaber and put Talon as a backpack.
Attaching Talon as a backpack with put a considerable weight to Feral Rex (especially on the back side), but it will still be able to stand up properly but with much more limited articulation.
Personally, i will display Feral Rex with their original 5 members (and without Felisaber) because that is what the Predaking should look like.
Additionally, i dont mind with limited articulation of Feral Rex, because being a combiner, one should not expect to be able to do extreme poses.
As long as the combiner can support their own weight and able to stand up properly, it is a good enough quality for me. Especially for Feral Rex, i do not need him to do extreme poses. I just need it to stand tall with its sheer presence, aura, and personality.

Final Thoughts
Get this combiner!!
If you are a beginner in 3rd party and want to start splurging on combiner line, then look no further and get this Feral Rex. Chances are you will be happy with it.
Unfortunately, it is very hard nowadays to get a complete set of Feral Rex members, you probably need to pay an extra money just to collect all 5 members (or 6).
MMC released a new version of Feral Rex, which is called Nero Rex with new color application (dominated by black and purple metallic). But the Nero Rex also was a convention exclusive item and it would be hard to try to get one now.
But nevertheless, the Feral Rex is the most complete 3rd party combiners offering and one of the best in the market.
Now, after the amazing Feral Rex, what combiners that MMC will bring next?? only time will tell ...
