Fans Project LER-04 SEVERO Review

Fans Project Lost Exo Realm is a stylized and modern interpretation of G1 dinobots team. It was announced back in 2014 and Fans Project had a plan for 6 dinobots members, with 5 of those members will be based on standard G1 dinobots and 1 original Fans Project character. Who knew that FP will continue this series and expanded the number of character more.
To date, we already have LER-01 Columpio (Sludge), LER-02 Cubrar (Slag), LER-03 Volar (Swoop) and the recently released LER-04 Severo (Grimlock). This time we will be looking a deeper look at LER-04 Severo.

Packaging
There are 2 versions of Severo released out there currently. The regular one and the deluxe version. This is the deluxe version that comes with big throne, gold crown, and an additional weapon master (Pottao & Kottav). Standard outside box packaging and Severo was kept securely inside a plastic clampshell sat down on the throne. It come with regular instruction manual and few accessories such as 2 weapon master figures (Pottao & Kottav), 2 gatling guns, 1 Severo gun, and 1 Severo blade.

Presentation
When standing up, the proportion of Severo feels a bit off. His shoulder placement is a bit high and the torso and abdomen seems on the smaller side.

I like the paint application on the figure with metallic gray being the base color, supported by gold chrome, silver chrome, black, red, and black gray paints. The throne color application is awesome, because it has a weathered looks and not just a plain throne.

Fans Project has used their creativity to completely redesigned, modernized and stylized all of the Dinobots in this series, and Severo is not an exception. To me i like the fresher take and new alternatives for the Dinobots.
Being a dinobot, we can expect few unfortunate kibbles and in the case of Severo, the kibble is apparent when looking from the back side.

The inclusion of weapon master (which can also be transformed into a weapon) is a major selling point for me. Pottao & Kottav is a small figure sized on their own, complete with their own weapon too.

Transformation
Severo transform to Tyrannosaurus Rex. The transformation is simple enough and its not frustrating at all. The T-Rex mode, however, is not well proportion to resembles the actual T-Rex. Severo T-Rex mode is slim and is not as imposing as the other 3rd party T-Rex (i.e: Planet X Vulcun). The tail is ugly and it is too short for a T-Rex. The T-Rex hand also very long and out of proportion.
This is the case where companies opted for transformation at a cost of scale and proportion.

The T-Rex is a very solid dinosaur and capable of few poses on its own. The jaw can be opened but not able to be fully closed.
Weapon master transform into a weapon, which is a long hammer (a mace?). However, Pottao and Kottav can combine together to form an even bigger hammer. So, if you are like me, and you like the bigger hammer, you will need to get the deluxe version of Severo. Because the regular version will only come with one Weapon master.

Articulation
I like Severo's articulation. There are few ratchet joints such as the elbow joint, waist joint, hip joints (universal ratchet), and knee joints. The inclusion of the ratchet joints really support the stability and poseability of Severo.
However, due to few kibbles, the articulation is more limited because you have clearance issue and less room to articulate. For example, the shoulder movement is very much limited because of the shoulder design and dino kibble on the back. The feet also a bit on the small side but thankfully you have a back heel support and the ball joint connection there is very stiff.

My Thoughts
If you are already invested in this LER series, i see no reason of not recommending Severo to you as you probably would like to complete the whole series anyway. Severo, on its own, is a good robot because of the fresh design, modern aesthetic, plethora of accessories and overall stability. However, the T-Rex is weak as it doesnt fully capture the T-Rex proportion.
I will be displaying my Severo with his throne so the lack of proportion in alt-mode doesnt bother me much.
I also like the Heave Weapon mode of Severo, whereby Severo is capable of supporting 2 big gatling gun on his back, a blade on his hip and a gun and big hammer on his hands.

Cheers
